Senior Family Law Paralegal

The Chariot Law Firm, LLC is a woman-owned, boutique firm specializing in family law and criminal defense.

We have an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced Senior Family Law Paralegal. Our firm is actively growing, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced paralegal who has developed a strong foundation in family law and wants to become an integral part of a growing firm and team.

We focus on providing compassionate and client-focused representation, with the highest standard of excellence inside and outside of the courtroom. To accomplish this, we believe it is important that every member of our team can focus not only on their career, but on their life outside of the office. Happy employees mean happy clients, so we ensure our attorneys and support staff are always treated with the utmost respect and encouraged to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

You’re not expected to work nights, weekends, vacations, or holidays. Ever. Period.

The position is full-time, in-person at our Greenwood Village office. This role involves significant client interaction, active case management, preparation for hearings and trials, and close collaboration with our attorneys and other members of the team.

We are a modern family law firm that takes the work seriously without making the practice of law harder than it needs to be. We are fully digital, highly organized, and intentional about using technology and strong systems to cut down on inefficiency, improve communication, and keep our attorneys and paralegals focused on our clients and their cases rather than fighting outdated processes.

About this Role:

We are looking for an experienced family law paralegal who knows how a family law case moves from beginning to end and can be an active part of keeping cases moving forward.

In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to manage family law matters, communicate directly with clients, calendar and monitor deadlines, prepare and organize discovery, draft pleadings and other legal documents, prepare cases for hearings and trials, and help ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.

We are looking for someone who is organized, responsive, capable of working independently, and comfortable communicating with clients who may be going through some of the most difficult and high-conflict situations of their lives. Just as importantly, we want someone who wants to be part of a strong team and build something over the long term.

We pride ourselves on ensuring our employees maintain work/life balance. You’ll never be expected to work while on vacation at our firm!

If you’re ready for a role where you can do meaningful work, have a real voice in the firm, and become an important part of a growing team, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Case and File Management. Work closely with attorneys to manage family law matters and ensure cases continue moving toward resolution. Maintain organized, accurate, and current client files in our case management system.
  • Calendaring and Deadlines. Calendar court dates, hearings, mediation, discovery deadlines, disclosure deadlines, and other case-related deadlines, and help ensure attorneys and clients are prepared for upcoming events.
  • Client Communication. Communicate regularly and professionally with clients regarding case information, documents, deadlines, scheduling, and other case needs. Paralegals have frequent direct client contact and are an important part of the client experience at our firm.
  • Drafting Pleadings, Motions, and Notices. Prepare routine pleadings, notices, disclosures, correspondence, and other legal documents. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills and the experience and initiative to assist with increasingly complex filings.
  • Discovery. Assist with preparing, organizing, reviewing, and responding to discovery and disclosures. Work with clients to obtain necessary documents and information and ensure discovery obligations and deadlines are met.
  • Hearing and Trial Preparation. Assist attorneys with preparing cases for hearings, mediation, depositions, and trials, including organizing exhibits, preparing notebooks and case materials, coordinating witnesses and experts, and ensuring attorneys have the materials they need.
  • Colorado E-Filing. Prepare and electronically file pleadings and other documents with Colorado courts and monitor filings, notices, and court communications.
  • Anticipating Case Needs. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and has the family law experience to recognize what needs to happen next. You know when clients need reminders, when documents or information are missing, when deadlines are approaching, and when something needs an attorney’s attention.
  • Team Collaboration. Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the firm to keep cases organized and moving efficiently toward resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of family law paralegal experience.
  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of Colorado family law procedures and the lifecycle of a family law case.
  • Experience assisting with discovery, disclosures, pleadings, court filings, hearing preparation, and trial preparation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone who can communicate professionally and courteously with clients from all walks of life, including clients and opposing parties who may be difficult or high-conflict.
  • Strong technology skills. Experience with Colorado’s E-Filing system, Microsoft Office, Windows, Clio Case Management, and Google Workspace is highly desired. The firm is technology-forward, and you should be comfortable learning and working with new technology.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail. These are essential, as you will be responsible for balancing deadlines, client needs, and the needs of multiple attorneys.
  • Ability to work independently, recognize priorities, anticipate case needs, and follow through without requiring constant direction.

Benefits:

  • Employer-provided Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, and Health Insurance.
  • Company-provided laptop and technology.
  • 401(k) Plan with Firm Contribution.
  • Paid federal holidays and PTO that increases over time.
  • A modern, fully digital work environment with technology and systems designed to make your job easier.
  • Ample training and support from experienced attorneys and paralegals.
  • A growing firm where experienced team members have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and grow with the firm.
  • A culture that takes work/life balance seriously. You’re not expected to work nights, weekends, vacations, or holidays.
