Holly Roys Basile, a recent addition to the Colorado legal community, earned her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing and Research and developed a deep-seated passion for advocacy at the Community Lawyering Clinic. Before entering the legal profession, Holly worked as a Family Intervention Specialist, focusing on the delicate process of safely reunifying families, a role that, combined with her dual undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminology, established the compassionate and insightful foundation she has maintained for over two decades.
Holly’s legal career is highlighted by a decade of service as a District Court Commissioner for the 8th Judicial District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this judicial role, she presided over high-stakes matters including juvenile dependency, domestic violence protection orders, and mental health civil commitments. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Holly spent ten years in private practice as a formidable litigator, navigating high-asset divorces and criminal defense cases while simultaneously managing a rigorous caseload as contracted defense counsel in juvenile dependency matters.
A zealous advocate with an extensive history of trials and evidentiary hearings, both as an attorney and from the bench, Holly offers her clients an insider’s perspective on how judicial decisions are made. She is known for her unwavering commitment to her clients’ rights, her ability to navigate the complexities of the courtroom, and for achieving favorable outcomes in even the most challenging settings.
Beyond her professional life, Holly enjoys exploring the beauty of Colorado, antiquing, planting and live music. She cherishes quality time with her family and friends and is happily obsessed with her two beloved dogs, Rook and Roxie.
